I don't know about you I'm getting more than just a little bit excited even though I've still got a heck of a lot to do tomorrow to get the shop ready for the big day.
So firstly before I start telling you about the huge amount of stuff I've got hidden upstairs for the big day I have a few thank you's to say first. So in no particular order huge thanks to King Cole, Groves and Banks, Rico Design and Sirdar without your generous donations YSD couldn't happen. Also thanks to crafty Sue who has spent the last few Wednesday nights winding mini skeins and to my good friend Wendy who not only has lent me the very expensive wool winder I've just sold her she's also giving up her own time tomorrow to help get the shop ready.
So as usual we are expecting YSD to be very busy a few things you need to know.
1. I won't unlock the doors until 9 am so please be patient whilst you are waiting outside
2. I am giving the same answer to everyone I'm not saving things for people, so if you want to get your hands on something in particular come early
3. The big knit n natter table is leaving the shop for the day to be replaced with trestle tables so there will be more room for people to get around the shop
4. Yarn Bingo starts at 1 pm
OK so now for the fun stuff we have goody bags to give away to the first 18 customers who spend over £20. We also have some raffle tickets from Let's Knit to give away which we will do so randomly through out the day. If you get one of these you need to fill in the counterfoil and give it back to me. Let's Knit will be drawing the raffle next week and contacting the shops that the tickets were issued to.
On top of that we have our annual yarn hamper prize draw happening, all you need to do is spend over £30 and we will enter you in the raffle. You can enter more than once if you want.
We also have the spot the sheep competition again, a dozen naughty sheep have escaped in the shop and I need your help rounding them up. Make sure you ask for your entry form, 1st prize is a full pack (12 balls) of King Cole Calypso.
Over the last few months I've been busy dyeing yarn and I've built up a huge stock pile for YSD. There's over 70 skeins available, most of it is fantasy themed including some Harry Potter colourways. There's also a Yarn Shop Day colourway as well and some limited edition rainbow shawl kits.
If that lot is not enough we will also have new Wool n Stuff shopping bags available to purchase and some handy tape measures as well. I've also been busy making up project bags and was squeeling with delight yesterday when the day glow letters glowed up as I was ironing them on!
Oh gosh I think I've mentioned everything now, well everything except the cake, there will be a lot of cake that needs eating.
So in all seriousness Yarn Shop Day is my favourite day of the year we have taken part from the very beginning way back when we were in our old shop. As you know OUR shop is all about community and YSD is the day we come together and celebrate our unique shop. We are here to serve the knitters and crocheters of Wakefield and beyond and we wouldn't exist without you our customers.
The shop has come along way in the last five years and on Saturday I will be revealing the plans for our new and permanent home in the city centre. I do hope so many of you can make it, it will be a fabulous day and if you've not been to a party in a wool shop now's your chance.
See you Saturday folks.
