Although it's not a new yarn, Sirdar No 1 has been in the shop for a while now I've finally got round to knitting it this summer and finished my jumper just in time for Yarndale. The shop has been pretty hectic for the last few weeks so I'm only just getting chance to write about it now.
I ordered in Sirdar No 1 DK as we were missing a high end all acrylic yarn in plain colours that wasn't a baby yarn. I have to say I'm not disappointed in it, it has knit up lovely every stitch is neat and I haven't had to block my knitting at all.
I have a thing about knitting jumpers in the round now, I've had enough of having to sew them up at the end. I had a browse through Raverly and came across Spring in September not only is it knitted in the round but it's also a free pattern.
I loved every minute of knitting it up and even managed to conquer short row shaping without ending up with holes.
Sirdar No 1 is a blend of 50% acrylic and 50% nylon and feels and knits like cotton. It's great for both spring/summer knits as well as for the autumn making it a good trans seasonal yarn. It's also ideal for both babies and adults and we have a huge choice of colours as well. It's also now in the shop in chunky as well as DK.
I've had a few customers say it splits easily but I didn't have a problem with it, I knitted the ribs on my Knitpro Symfonies and the main body on my Addi circulars. Like I said earlier every stitch is neat and I've not had to block it, I simply weaved in the ends and started wearing it.
So if your looking for a good non wool blend yarn then I can certainly recommend Sirdar No 1.
